What to expect from the walk:

Along surfaced paths and a short section of unsurfaced track. Barriers include two bridges over the railway, a narrow gap to walk through and some inclines.

Kilburn Shed

Kilburn Shed. It was built in 1826 as an iron merchant’s warehouse, close to the Stockton and Darlington Railway to exploit the transport opportunities it could provide. Image © David Dixon.

Timothy Hackworth House

Timothy Hackworth House.This house was built 1830-1831 for Timothy Hackworth, the locomotive superintendent of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. in 1975 it became the Timothy Hackworth Muse. Image © Ashley Dace.

The Light Engine
