We are looking for volunteer creative and talented video editors to help us share our stories from around the Skerne. This is a perfect opportunity for someone with the basic skills who wants to build a portfolio, who is organised, focused, and excited by the idea of helping our community.
You should be familiar with editing software such as iMovie. Having access to your own software is desirable but not essential as we have an in-house editing computer that can be used by volunteers.
Video Production and Editing responsibilities include:
- Producing and Editing digital video projects according to provided specifications: these include working with the Brightwater team to decide on subjects; creating content; reviewing raw material;, trimming footage, and creating a logical, compelling sequence
- Sourcing and inputting music, graphics, and effects as appropriate ensuring that all necessary copyrights and permissions are obtained
- Creating rough cuts and final cuts according to the Executive Producer’s comments
- Consulting with the Discover Brightwater Programmeanager and Communication Officer throughout the process
Skills and attributes:
- Sense of fun
- Ability to work within a team
- Experience with editing software (e.g. Avid, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, iMovie)
- Demonstrable content creation and/or video editing ability: knowledge of storyboarding, timing, continuity, and flow
- Understanding of social media and particularly of the importance of video in social media engagement
- Creativity and storytelling skills
- Pro-active; takes initiative when making decisions
